Life is a Cage

Life is a Cage

drowning in waves

my thoughts disappear

my memory resurfaces

my heart is tight with fear

as my hand is left in pieces

picking them up from the grains of sand

is too hard

picking them up with my bare dry eyes

is too hard

picking them up with my barred mind

is enough

piece by piece

thought by thought

I walk

through the waves

they touch my feet as I kick rounded rocks

heavy rocks

drag me down

all I can see is sand

all I can hear is the sound

all I can breath

I can, not

life is a cage I say

life is a cage I pray

life is a cage in the light of this day

today you must be the sun

for I see life as an ocean
